Uruguay has a population of 3.3 million inhabitants and is situated between the two South American 'giants'; Brazil and Argentina. It occupies a territory 176,215 sq km wide. It has 220 km of Atlantic coast, 378 km of coast by the Río de la Plata and a 435 km-coastline along the Río Uruguay. The abovementioned rivers are the southern and western natural boundaries with Argentina. By east and north, the country borders the hugest South American country, Brazil, whose cultural influence is visible in the bordering areas.
Its moderate climate and its territory of vast fertile prairies and rolling hills -with rougher elevations- watered by numerous water courses have turned the country into a great agricultural producer, with extraordinary comparative and competitive advantages.
